OVERVIEW

Album artwork and visual identity for rock band XO Versa.

The project centered on translating the emotional tone of the album into a tactile, memory-driven visual language that felt nostalgic, layered, and deeply personal.

CONCEPT & DIRECTION

The album title, Recall the Scenery, evokes the fragmented way we remember childhood and dreams — moments that feel vivid yet distorted by time. The visual direction explored that idea by blending nostalgic imagery with distressed physical textures to mirror the way memory is layered, imperfect, and emotionally charged.

Vintage photographs of children at a fair were used to symbolize fleeting innocence and formative moments. These images were intentionally weathered through layered paint and spray textures that were physically created, scanned, and integrated digitally.

This hybrid analog-to-digital process reinforced the conceptual theme: memories are not clean snapshots, but surfaces shaped by time, emotion, and reinterpretation.

The final compositions feel both painterly and photographic, as if recollections were being rebuilt on canvas rather than simply preserved.

EXECUTION

The project included album cover design, packaging system, disc art, and promotional visuals.

Heavy texture work and layered composition techniques were used to ensure the artwork retained depth and tactile presence across both physical packaging and digital formats.

Color grading and material treatments were carefully balanced to maintain cohesion while allowing the collage elements to remain expressive and raw.
